Conditions of use of information available on a free-access basis on this site
The free-access information on this site is intended for all categories of users and hence for
extensive dissemination. For these reasons, INSEE is, of course, favorable to the potential
redissemination of the said information by third parties. The redissemination of this information
is accordingly permitted without license and without fee (Article 14 of the government ordinance
of October 10, 2000, published in the Journal Officiel of November 14, 2000).
Redissemination may occur in one of two forms:
- Redissemination of the information for inclusion in a printed or CD-ROM product: The
redisseminator may collect the information on the Web and reproduce it freely provided
that the integrity of the content is preserved and that the source is named.
- Redissemination of the information on a website: Redissemination is allowed but subject to
the preservation of the same quality of service that INSEE itself provides on its own website,
namely, the continuous updating of the data and the supply, where appropriate, of the
definitions and explanations needed for the proper understanding of the data. To preserve
this quality of service, and in cases where the redissemination requirement exceeds a small
number of data items, it is preferable to establish a URL link with the INSEE website.
Establishing links with the INSEE website
INSEE is favorable to the establishment of URL links with its insee.fr website and
related subsites. However, to enable INSEE to ensure that the character and environment of
the host site make it desirable to establish the link and to verify that the information is
disseminated on the host site in the required conditions, the establishment of such a link
is subject to the prior agreement of INSEE. The agreement shall be expressed in tangible
form in a letter of authorization from the INSEE Publications Department to the requesting
entity. INSEE reserves the right to rescind its authorization at any time if the Institute
believes that the link has ceased to comply with INSEE's editorial policy.
Requests should be sent to:Monsieur le Chef du Département de l'Offre Éditoriale -
Timbre H201 - 18 boulevard Adolphe-Pinard
75675 Paris cedex 14 - FRANCE - e-mail: dg75-h201@insee.fr.
The links must mention the name and address of the site owner (private individual or legal entity).
The link must be set up not on the logo but on the word INSEE in black letters
on white background, set in a rectangle measuring no more than 25 mm by 9 mm. You can use this model:
