In Q4 2023, the prices of houses in metropolitan France fell by 1.7% compared to the previous quarter (provisional seasonally-adjusted data), after -1.0% in Q3 2023. The fall in prices of second-hand dwellings intensified (-1.8% in Q4 2023, after -1.1% in Q3 2023). Prices of new dwellings declined for the third quarter in a row (-0.3%, as the previous quarter).

Fall in house prices was accentuated for second-hand dwellings

In Q4 2023, the prices of houses in metropolitan France fell by 1.7% compared to the previous quarter (provisional seasonally-adjusted data), after -1.0% in Q3 2023. The fall in prices of second-hand dwellings intensified (-1.8% in Q4 2023, after -1.1% in Q3 2023). Prices of new dwellings declined for the third quarter in a row (-0.3%, as the previous quarter).

Over a year, prices in new dwellings fell for the first time since 2014

Year on year, house prices went down for the second quarter in a row (-3.6% after -1.6%). This decline was driven by prices of second-hand dwellings (-3.9% after -1.8%) and also by those of new dwellings which fell for the first time over a year since 2014 (-0.7% after +0.2%).
